Experience
For more than twenty-five years, Matthew Taylor has guided contractors, developers, and business owners through the high-stakes disputes that define the construction industry. His background is rooted in a multigenerational construction family; both his father and grandfather owned a construction business. Working for that business gave him firsthand insight into the financial pressures, contractual risks, and day-to-day challenges his clients encounter. It ultimately shaped his decision to practice law and fuels his commitment to resolving problems strategically, efficiently, and with as little disruption to the project and the client’s bottom line as possible.
Matthew tenaciously represents clients in all stages of construction and complex business litigation, including contract disputes, defect claims, lien and bond issues, permitting matters, and project-level conflicts involving multiple stakeholders and technical considerations. He is known for his ability to quickly diagnose the core legal and operational issues behind a dispute, chart a decisive course of action, and pursue solutions that protect both the project and the client’s financial interests. Clients appreciate his direct communication style, his emphasis on cost-effective strategy, and his unwavering availability—values rooted in his belief that lawyers should be accessible guides during difficult moments.
Over the course of his career, Matthew has handled a broad range of construction-related matters, including permitting litigation involving more than $760 million in dispute, and routinely advises contractors, subcontractors, project owners, and developers across Florida. He has handled countless, high-stakes, construction litigation matters from start to resolution whether mediation, arbitration, trial or appeal. His practical judgment is complemented by thought leadership in the field: he is a continuing contributor to the Florida Bar’s Real Property Litigation Handbook and a frequent instructor for construction industry continuing education programs on contract essentials, lien law, and state and federal bond law.
Clients describe Matthew as candid, strategic, and relentlessly focused on protecting their financial interests. His combination of industry insight, litigation experience, and practical business sense continues to make him a trusted resource for construction and commercial clients throughout Florida.
