Johnson Pope Represents Woodlands Medical Specialists Physicians in Affiliation with Florida Cancer Specialists

Johnson Pope Bokor Ruppel & Burns, LLP is pleased to announce the successful completion of a complex healthcare transaction in which attorneys Michael Magidson and Adam Kravatz represented 14 physicians affiliated with Woodlands Medical Specialists in their affiliation with Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), one of the nation’s largest physician-led oncology and specialty care organizations. The transaction became effective on May 1, 2026.

The transaction involved the transition of oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, and urology physicians from Woodlands Medical Specialists into what is now operating as Woodlands Specialty Physicians, a division of Florida Cancer Specialists. According to Florida Cancer Specialists, the affiliation expands access to community-based oncology and specialty care services throughout Florida’s Panhandle while maintaining continuity of care for patients and providers.

Johnson Pope represented this group of physicians throughout a highly complex, multi-year process that required extensive coordination among the physicians and a variety of other parties and their legal counsel.

The firm’s work included negotiating and structuring physician employment agreements, healthcare regulatory and compliance matters, tax analysis, and a broad range of transaction documentation necessary to facilitate the affiliation.
