St. Petersburg – Thomas D. Sims, a partner in the St. Petersburg office of Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel & Burns, LLP, has been named to the Board of Directors for The James Museum that was formed in November 2019.

Tom practices in the areas of Business & Tax Law and Trusts & Estates. He represents entrepreneurs and high-net worth individuals in connection with their asset and protection, estate and gift tax, and transactional tax planning needs.

The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art has its roots in the deeply felt passion for art and culture shared by co-founders, Tom and Mary James. After collecting art and building relationships with artists for decades, Tom and Mary decided to add to St. Petersburg’s growing art scene in April 2018.

The Museum – located at 150 Central Avenue – houses eight galleries displaying over 400 premiere works of art including sculpture, paintings and jewelry. The Museum’s hours of operation are daily 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Tuesdays 10:00 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Each themed gallery highlights subjects ranging from Native peoples to cowboy culture to wildlife. Most of the artworks are by living artists or were purchased during the artist’s lifetime by the James family. Travels to the American West starting in the mid-1980s ignited their passion for collecting art with Western subjects.

Their love for collecting art paved way for The James Museum and allows Tom and Mary to share their collection and devotion to art with the world.
