Joy S. Easterwood Joins Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel & Burns, LLP

TAMPA – Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel & Burns, LLP is pleased to announce that Joy S. Easterwood has joined the firm. Ms. Easterwood is a member of the health care team and focuses her practice on data privacy and security (including HIPAA), telemedicine, business transactions, licensure, and regulatory matters. She joins Johnson Pope after working as Counsel & Privacy Officer at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and has prior health care experience as in-house counsel and privacy officer with providers and in the payor industry as well. Joy is Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (“CHPC”).

Ms. Easterwood holds a B. S. degree in Communication Studies & Psychology, cum laude, from Florida State University and a J. D. from Stetson University College of Law. During her time at Stetson, she served as the President of the Health Care Law Association and as a member of their nationally ranked Trial Team.  She is a member of The Florida Bar, the South Carolina Bar, the Health Law Section of The Florida Bar and the Health Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association.

In addition, Ms. Easterwood is an Adjunct Professor at Stetson University College of Law and is the author of several presentations and publications relating to HIPAA laws and data privacy and security compliance.
