Joshua T. Chilson Elected to a Second Term on The Florida Bar Board of Governors
Joshua. T. Chilson, a partner at Johnson Pope, was recently reelected as a Governor for Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit on The Florida Bar Board of Governors. Josh was reelected when no one filed to run against him. In his capacity on the BOG, he represents the approximate 4,000 lawyers and judges in the Sixth Judicial Circuit which spans Pinellas and Pasco Counties. The Board of Governors is made up of 52 attorneys from across the State and is the governing body that regulates the practice of law in Florida through The Florida Supreme Court. This will be Josh’s second term on the BOG. Besides his service on the Board of Governors, Josh is also a past president of the Clearwater Bar Association.
Since joining the Board of Governors, Josh has become a respected leader on the Board. He has been appointed to important Board committees including the Communications Committee, the Legislation Committee, the Program Evaluation Committee and is the board liaison to the City, County and Local Government Section of The Florida Bar and the Florida Bar’s Annual Convention Committee. In his capacity on the Board, he also oversees two of the Sixth Circuit’s Attorney Grievance Committees and the Circuit’s two Unlicensed Practice of Law Committees.
Josh practices exclusively in the areas of personal injury and social security disability, having represented injured clients in most all types of personal injury matters including auto accidents, wrongful death, premises liability incidents, defective products and most other types of negligence actions involving serious injuries.
During law school, Josh completed prestigious internships with then Chief Judge of Florida’s Third District Court of Appeal the Honorable David L. Levy and in the U.S. Department of Justice at the United States Attorneys’ Office for the Middle District of Florida. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and has been recognized by multiple organizations for his dedication to the law including Florida Super Lawyers, Florida Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite and the Clearwater Bar Association who has awarded him multiple president’s awards and in 2016 awarded him their top honor, the Clearwater Bar Ralph Richards Award.
