A Note From The Chair, Johnson Pope Health Care Group

There has been a flurry of activity since Lori Ammons and I joined the Johnson Pope Health Care Group in late 2014. Our Group’s goal has been to establish a team of lawyers and support professionals to meet the increasingly diversified legal needs of our health care clients by providing carefully charted services in a cost-efficient manner. We continue to exceed our own initial expectations. We’ve also added a new attorney, Maggie Kramer, to our Health Care Audit Defense Group.

We also are excited that, in March, Dick Jacobs agreed to join us as Senior Counsel and “Team Grandfather.” Dick brings us five decades of experience and insight. I will never be able to thank Dick for all that he has done for me as a lawyer and a person. I’m so pleased that we will continue to work together.

Our health care clients are unique enterprises.

Health care businesses and practices not only confront the same legal issues as other businesses – from tax planning to human resources management – but are also shackled with a bevy of regulations that are often counter-intuitive. Unfortunately, what is legal in the conduct of most business enterprises is frequently unlawful in the health care industry.

Our team walks with our health care clients through today’s difficult minefield, providing our clients with a “one-stop” service center for their business and personal planning concerns. We cover a wide range of issues, from business organization selection to tax planning, structuring buy-sell agreements, employee and executive benefits, and solving employment issues, as well as contract analysis, drafting and negotiation, equipment and facility acquisition, leasing and business financing – and in addition, health care audits and defense as well as health care regulatory guidance. We also provide health care professionals and executives with personal advice regarding asset protection and estate planning, so essential in today’s complex and litigious environment.

And there is more!

Keep an eye out for our new blog, and for an invitation to our series of educational events and presentations. As always, feel free to let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to continuing to work with you.
