BP Claim Important Update

By Ryan C. Griffin | Categories: Articles, LitigationPrint PDF March 2015

As you may be aware, on December 8, 2014, the United States Supreme Court issued an Order denying BP’s latest attempt to invalidate the Economic and Property Damages Settlement Agreement by which BP had previously agreed to compensate Gulf Coast business owners.  This decision represents a major victory for claimants.  Moreover, this event is also important as it triggers the deadline by which to file any remaining business claims within six months from that date of decision. Therefore, the final deadline to file any previously unsubmitted business claims is now firmly established as June 8, 2015.

In light of the recent decision, it is likely that there are many business owners in the Tampa Bay area, who may have previously been hesitant to pursue their claims as a result of BP’s relentless campaign against the Settlement Program in the media, that will be emboldened by this recent affirmation of the Settlement Program’s validity and pursue their business claims against BP.

If there is anything we can do to assist you in reviewing potential claims business claims or submitting any remaining business claims under the Settlement Program, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to assisting you.
