Millions of dollars in savings have accrued to landowners because of
Beth Daniels’ work to obtain crucial tax exemptions and reductions
in assessed values on major properties. The properties involved in her
cases range from Pinellas County’s largest undeveloped parcel
to major hotels, office complexes, apartments, shopping malls, and industrial
plants all over Florida.
Beth also represents landowners, tenants, and lenders in complicated
eminent domain matters. Her efforts in a lengthy condemnation case resulted
in the client receiving $1.3 million where the taking authority had
originally only offered $250,000.
Such expertise has led Beth to concentrate on ad valorem tax disputes,
eminent domain matters, complex foreclosure cases and general commercial
litigation at Johnson, Pope. She has represented such well-known
corporate names as USX Credit, Republic Bank, Citicorp Real Estate,
Inc., GMAC, Pepperidge Farm, The Principal Financial
Group, Colonial Properties and Marriott Sawgrass Resort.
She has practiced at Johnson, Pope since 1979, after graduating
with honors from Florida State University College of Law.
Since joining the firm, this native of St. Petersburg and valedictorian of Boca Ciega
High School has been heavily involved in bar and community activities.
Beth has held numerous committee and officer positions with the Clearwater
Bar Association, of which she was elected the first woman president.
She has served on the board of the Morton Plant
Hospital Foundation, is
a graduate of Leadership Pinellas, and is also a graduate and served on the board of Leadership Tampa
Bay. Beth is also a member, elder, choir member, and soloist at Peace Memorial
Presbyterian Church. She has served on the Pinellas County Arts Council
and is on the board of The Florida Orchestra and the Clearwater Art Alliance, where she served as president for 3 years.
Beth is a person of many talents and interests, ranging from singing
opera to sports. She is a soloist with the Sunstate Opera Society, and
her church, an avid golfer, loves to roller blade, bike and fish and
plays a variety of sports. In 1999, Arnold Palmer presented Beth with
the prestigious Rolex Achievement Award. This is a national honor given
by the College Golf Foundation to former collegiate golfers who have
obtained a high level of achievement in careers unrelated to athletics.
